MARKET UPDATE - JANUARY 2013

Happy New Year! As one of Malibu’s top producing agents, I am very excited about the beginning of a new real estate year in Malibu.

The sales are continuing to increase in Malibu.

We are beginning 2013 with only 167 homes actively listed for sale in Malibu compared to approximately 270 listings at the beginning of 2012. This is continuing the downward trend of available homes for sale in our area.

According to the Multiple Listing Service, 234 homes sold in the 90265 Malibu zip code during 2012 compared to approximately 172 homes sold in 2011. This is a 36% increase in the number of sales in 2012 versus 2011. This figure would not include any off market sales that occurred.

The Buyers have returned to our marketplace. They are savvy and price conscious but seriously looking to buy.

Now is the time to take action.

Susan's Famous Cookies Auctionned
On Valentine's Day 2012, I participated in a charitable auction for the Coldwell Banker Charitable Foundation. I auctioned two batches of my "famous" home-baked chocolate chip cookies. One winning bidder donated a batch to Malibu's Point Dume Marine Science School. The second winner bidder sent the cookies overseas to three relatives in the Armed Forces.

for the Honor of Receiving the “Girl Power Award"

At a May 20, 2011 luncheon at the Beverly Hills Hotel, I received the “Girl Power Award” from A Place Called Home. APCH is a dynamic, non-profit organization that runs a youth center in South Central Los Angeles. Its Mission is To provide at-risk youth with a secure, positive family environment where they can regain hope and belief, earn trust and self-respect and learn skills to lead to a productive lifestyle free of the gangs, drugs and poverty that surround them.

In my remarks, I related how I am empowered by my passion for selling real estate, and I challenged the crowd: "It is so important that we all find the thread in our lives that empowers each of us in this world and then we use it to empower others. In our busy lives, we have to make a conscious effort to do so." The organization's Website is http://www.apch.org.
